I'm always eager to discover new disability collectives working in the performing arts space, so you can imagine how chuffed I was to come across FlawBored.
FlawBored is a multi-award-winning, disability-led theatre company co-founded by Samuel Brewer, Aarian Mehrabani, and Chloe Palmer in the UK.
Known for their cheeky and chaotic productions, they tackle complex issues surrounding identity with dark irreverence, steering clear of "Disability trauma-porn" or "pity-porn."
Their latest production, "It's a Motherf**king Pleasure," is a scathing satire on the monetization of identity politics, sparing no one. The show has garnered critical acclaim, with The Times of London calling it "stunningly inventive."
The show is both cheeky and chaotic, challenging societal norms while ensuring accessibility for all audiences. FlawBored's work is not just theatre; it's a movement towards inclusivity and a fresh perspective on disability in the arts.
You can check FlawBored out online via the link below and follow them on socials (I'm crossing my fingers that their new show will tour in Toronto someday soon!).
