Propeller Dance is a contemporary creation and education company, working in diverse practices to create socially-engaged art and a dance world that is more representative of our diverse society in Canada.
Recognized as a pioneer and leader in Canada, Propeller Dance has a mandate to provide inclusive, integrated and accessible performance opportunities, dance training and education to people with and without disabilities. Propeller Dance is committed to excellence in creating, performing and training in integrated contemporary dance.
Propeller’s scope of activity includes:
- A professional Company of dancers that perform locally and nationally.
- New creations directed by in-house choreographers, emerging choreographers with and without disability, and guest choreographers.
- Mentoring artists with disabilities as choreographers, dancers and dance educators.
- Works created using the Propeller methodology for creative collaboration
- Professional education to dance teachers, dance partner specialists, and dance and theatre professionals using an inclusive teaching methodology.
- An extensive recreational dance training program for children, youth, adults across the City of Ottawa and an online class bringing in students from beyond Ottawa.
- Touring schools in the Ottawa area with works for young audiences.
